San Carlos is the city and the capital of San Carlos Municipalities in Rio San Juan Department in Nicaragua country, is located at the junction of Nicaragua Lake and San Juan River, covers an area of 1.462 square kilometers (0.564 square miles) and Solentiname Islands is situated in the San Carlos Municipality. San Carlos is surrounded by Los Chiles, Santa Cruz, Nueva Guinea, and Villa Sandino is located at the distance of 292 kilometers from the capital of Nicaragua, Managua. Coordinates of San Carlos are 11.1333° N, 84.7833° W.

Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge:
