Beijing is sited on the Asian continent in the north region of the country, China. This place forms the center of administration for country, China. Beijing is sometimes called as Peking. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 39054’50” N 116023’30” E and spans over an area of 16,802 km2. The place is 44 meters above sea level. During summer season the average temperature is 42.60C and in winter temperature drops to below -3.70C.

 

History of Beijing:

The oldest civilization dates back to 100 BC with the existence of Xia dynasty in the country. In the year 1046 B.C, the Shang dynasty ruled China. The culture and other aspects of China came into existence during the 8th century under the reign of the Zhou dynasty. Later the Qin dynasty ruled the entire country stretching to Tibet regions. The then empire of this great dynasty was Emperor Qin Shi Huang who united the country. After him the country came under the rule of many Emperors before witnessing the invasion of the European rulers. Wars were between the Chinese nationals and the Europeans to gain supremacy in the country China. The year 1949 marked the era of the beginning of Communist China.

Forbidden City:

This city is located at the center of the China country. Construction of this city began in the year 1368, under the then Emperor Chengzu of the Ming dynasty. It took 14 long years in the making of the Forbidden City also known as ‘The Purple Forbidden City’ or locally termed as Gu Gong. For 24 years it was the imperial palace under the Ming and Qing dynasty.

 

Great Wall of China:

This structure is more than 200 years old and is considered as one of the 8 wonders of the world and is regarded by the UNESCO as one of the World Cultural Heritage. This structure stretches from east to west of the country and covers 8, 852 km in length.

 

Tiananmen Square:

Here grand parade takes place on the Parade Grounds during Sunrise and Sunset. During 1949, Chairman Mao gave a speech of the commencement of the China Republic.

 

Summer Palace

This place happens to be one of the largest imperial gardens in the country of China. The Kunming Lake flows besides this Palace.

 

Temple of Heaven:

Regarded as one of the most holy sites, it is the largest sacrificial site in whole of Beijing. It was worshipped by the Ming and Qing dynasty, located at the distance of 4 kms from center of the city.

Beijing is well connected to the rest of the world via airways. Beijing Capital International Airport is towards the northeast of the city and at a distance of 20 km. the airport is linked to the city by an Airport Expressway. Another international airport known as Beijing Daxing International Airport is under construction in the district of Daxing District.
