Senanga is a town belonging to the Western Province of the Southern African country, Zambia. It is located on the eastern bank of the River Zambezi, on the road leading it to the city of Livingstone via Sesheke towards the. Positioned at 16°07′ S 23°16′ E, Senanga is situated around 670 km southwest of Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.

Senanga is a scenic town offering fishing opportunity for visitors at Zambezi River and is also one of the gateways to two natural tourist attractions Ngonye Falls (80 km) and Sioma Ngwezi National Park (120 km). There is a tall radio mast in the town, known as a major landmark of Senanga.

 

How to connect Senanga?

Senanga hosts an airport but that lacks scheduled flight services. Better, if international tourists first directly reach Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone and then they can continue their journey to Senanga by road by bus or rental car. This airport is situated around 400 km southeast of Senanga, with direct air-link to Nelspruit, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Harare, Nairobi and Lusaka.

Senanga’s road link is also well maintained throughout the way to Livingstone and buses are also frequent in this route.

Zambezi River:

Sioma Ngwezi National Park:

Situated around 120 km south of Senanga, the Sioma Ngwezi National Park is the 3rd largest national park of Zambia covering a total area of 5,000 square kilometers. The park is home to around 3,000 elephants and other wildlife includes Sable Antelope, Puku, Impala, Zebra and Roan Antelope. The park lacks road, so visitors are advised to consider a guided tour for easy exploration of the park.

 

Ngonye Falls:

The Ngonye Falls is located near Sioma town, on the Zambezi River, around 80 km southeast of Senanga. The height of the falls ranges from 10 to 25 meters but its width doubles the height with a spectacular view. It is little difficult to access but can.
