Hornindal is a town and municipality in district of Nordfjord in the Sogn og Fjordane County in Norway. Hornindal is placed on the northern part of the county and surrounded by mountainous region and highest peak is Hornindalsrokken Mount at an elevation of 1,495 meters (4,905 feet) above the sea level and covers an area of 191.60 square kilometers (73.98 square miles).

History of Hornindal:

Hornindal was the part of Eid prestegjeld and it became parish of its own in the year 1865 but later in the year 1867, Hornindal was established as a municipality. After becoming municipality the population of the Hornindal grew rapidly and the name of the municipality was derived from Horne farm.
