Barysaw is also written as Barysau, is a city belonging to Minsk Voblast in Belarus covers an area of 45.97 sq. km. It is one of the major industrial centres of Belarus with more than 40 large factories that include electricity automobile parts, wood products manufacturing and dairy products.

The city of Barysaw is divided into two parts, Old Barysaw and New Barysaw which is detached by river and connected by 2 well constructed bridges.

Barysaw was originally founded by Polotsk prince Boris Vseslavovich in 1102 with name Borisov, was earlier part of the different empires such as the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (13^th century), the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (16^th century) and the Russian Empire (in the late 18^th century).
