Sayaboury also written as ‘Sainyabuli’ or ‘Xaignabouli’ is the capital city of Sainyabuli Province in Northwest Laos. It is placed between latitude 19°15′ in the north and longitude 101°45′ in the east. Sayaboury Province covers an area of 16,389 sq. km. and is situated about 80 kms from Luang Prabang City.

Sayaboury is home to about 75% of the country’s 560 domesticated elephants and also organizes the annual Elephant Festival held in Hongsa region organized by the Lao National Tourism Authority.
