Xayabury also known as Sainyabuli or Xayaburi is the capital city of Sainyabuli Province in Laos, about 364 northwest of national capital Vientiane. It is the elephant’s land of the country houses more than 75% among 560 domesticated elephants of the Laos and Lao National Tourism Authority organizes Elephant Festival in Hongsa region of Xayabury every year. Xayabury Province covers an area of 16,389 sq. km. and the city is situated between 19°15′ north latitude and 101°45′ east longitude. Xayabury Province is surrounded by Bokeo Province and Oudomxai Province in the north and Luang Prabang Province and Vientiane Province on the east.
