Jarabacoa is a town in the La Vega Province in Dominican Republic is the second largest municipality in the province. Jarabacoa covers an area of 257.10 square miles (665.88 square kilometers) and situated at an elevation of 529 meters (1,736 feet) above the sea level and the region is surrounded by mountains and natural charm. Three rivers flow through the Jarabacoa are baiguate, Jimenoa and Yaque Del Norte and economy of the Jarabacoa is based on agriculture and cash crops and recognized for wide range of flowers. Jarabacoa is surrounded by Estancita, Pinar Quemado, Bejucal, El Janey, La Vega and Las Marines. Jarabacoa is positioned at the distance of 140 kilometers from the capital of Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo and geographically coordinates at 19.1167° N, 70.6333° W.

Jarabacoa delights itself on presenting works of art not to be creating anywhere else and numerous generally highly praised artists have taken up residence in the mountain town. La Vega Carnival is renowned all over the country and carnival is organized every Sunday throughout the month of February.

Monastery of Santa Maria Del Evangelio:

Monastery of Santa María Del Evangelio is located in the park downtown. A monastery was established in the year 1989 by Abbot Jose Maria de Prada and in the year 1996 the community settled in the monastery.

 

Jimenoa Waterfall:

Jimenoa Waterfall is located in Cordillera Central Mountains. The Jimenoa waterfalls are more impressive and often visited by number of tourists than other waterfalls in the region which is surrounded by lush canyon and less hard to reach.

 

The Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve:

The Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve is conserved for protecting species and green ebony trees that are found completely in this part of the world and also a significant bird observation station.

 

Aguas Blancas Waterfall:

Aguas Blancas Waterfall is considered as the tallest waterfall in the Caribbean within the Valle Nuevo National Park and waterfall is bound by local flora and fauna.
