Negril is a resort town situated in the Westmoreland parish in Jamaica Country, is situated on the western coastline consisting of the finest beaches in the country and other side of the town is surrounded by Royal Palm Reserve, a protected wetlands and forest and Negril River flow through the town. Negril is surrounded by West End, Orange Bay, Green Island, Little London, Georges Plain, Cousins Cove and Grange Hill and located at the distance of 222 kilometers from the capital of Jamaica Kingston. Coordinates of Negril are 18.3110° N, 78.3394° W.

 

History of Negril:

Negril was named by the Spanish in the year 1494, due to the black cliffs south of the village and some other also believed that name is derived due to the vast population of blacks in the town. Negril developed as a resort town from the 1950s and tourists visited the town use to stay with the Jamaican family later in the year 1970s when the road between Montego Bay and Negril developed and resort town became more popular among the tourists.
