Salto is located in the Salto department in Uruguay country. Salto city is situated towards northwestern part of the country and on the banks of River Rio Uruguay at an elevation of 157 feet (48 meters) above the sea level. Salto city shares the border with Argentina city Concordia and farming and fishing are the form of living in and around the city. History of Salto:

Salto was the home base to military and only few houses were built and fishing and hunting was the main form of living in the region. Spanish army captured the Portuguese colony and ruled for 2 year and left the town in the year 1763. Salto was declared as village before the independence and in the year 1837 it was declared as the city.
