Magway is located in Asian continent towards the west of Myanmar in Magway Region. Magway is the capital of Magway Region and was previously known as Magway Division. Irrawaddy River flows through the township and Mya Tha Lun Pagoda is a famous landmark situated towards the north of Magway city, economy of the city is mainly based on agriculture and small Businesses in the city. History of Magway:

During the British rule in Myanmar, a Geologist was appointed to find locations containing natural and mineral resources. After touring part of the country, the geologist submitted his finding to the then Governor stating that the areas in Magway Division are rich with fossil deposits. Further on Archeologists found an ancient city formed at the time of Pyu dating to 2000 years in Taungdwingyi Township.
