Katowice is situated in the south part of Poland is a city in the Upper Silesia region. History of Katowice:

As per the records, it is believed that the Katowice region was inhabited by ethnic Silesians and it was first captured and ruled by the Polish Silesian Piast dynasty. In the year 1865, the town gained the status of city and flourished due to the coal deposits in the nearby mountains. Between the years 1939 to 1945 the city was ruled by Nazi Germany and after the World War II, ecological damage occurred to the environment but later recovered rapidly.
