History of Kitzbuhel:

Kitzbuhel was populated in the early 1100 and 800 BC by Illyrians mining copper and the Romans invaded the region during 15 BC under the rule of Augustus Emperor. In 1255, Kitzbuhel became the division of Upper Bavaria and in 1271, Louis II, Duke of Bavaria, granted the region as the town and constructed the wall around the town due to location on top of the hill it was unaffected by war for many centuries.
