Wad Madani, or Wad Medani, is one of the major cities of Sudan, functioning as the administrative centre of the Al Gezira state. It is situated on the west bank of the River Blue Nile, located between 14°24′ N latitude and 33°31′ E longitude. Wad Madani is basically a trade town, mainly noted for the trade of peanuts, barley, livestock and wheat. Cotton is also largely grown in the surrounding areas of Wad Madani.
