History of Lapta:

Lapta is the oldest town in the Cyprus before the invasion of Romans the town was settled by Laconians and Lapethos colony was constructed after the Trojan War around 1000 BC by the first king. Lapta became the prominent town during the Rule of Roman and copper was extracted in the town and after the fall of Roman rule in the town, it was ruled by Byzantine and Luisignan ruler until the invasion of Ottoman in the year 1571. During the Ottoman rule from 1571 to 1878, the town developed and various mosques, buildings and schools were established.
