Nicosia is positioned in the middle of the Island on the banks of River Pedieos is the capital and largest city in Cyprus Island. History of Nicosia:

Nicosia was inhabited from Bronze Age around 2,500 BC and before the invasion of Roman the region was ruled by Ledra Kingdom and Assyrian Kingdom and after the fall of the kingdom, Romans captured the island during 4th century Byzantine ruled the country and Nicosia became the capital of the Cyprus and byzantine governor constructed the castle in the city. Ottoman rule in the country was established in the year 1570, later was captured the Paphos, Limassol, and Larnaca and later invaded the Nicosia city and various churches in the country were converted into mosques by Ottoman ruler. British officially transferred the island to Great Britain in the year 1878.
