Paralimni is a town and municipality in south east part of the Cyprus Island in Famagusta District. Economy of the town depends on tourism, commercial and small business in the town and tourists visited the town due the unspoiled beaches and natural charm. Paralimni is situated at the distance of 88 kilometers from Nicosia, capital of Cyprus Island and bounded by Ayia Napa, Deryneia, Frenaros, Sotira, Avgorou, Liopetri, and Xylofagous towns. Geographical coordinates of Paralimni are 35.0333° N, 33.9833° E and spans a total area of 47.92 square kilometers.

 

History of Paralimni:

Paralimni was the agricultural town during the 20th century and town was established on the banks of a shallow Lake and name Paralimni means “by the lake” and Ottoman captured the town in the year 1571.

Cathedral of St. Nicholas:

Cathedral of St. Nicholas is positioned in the Famagusta city at the distance of 25 kilometers from Paralimni town was constructed during the rule of Venice but later the church was converted into mosque and was named after the Lala Mustafa Pasa, who fought against the Venetian ruler during the rule of Ottoman.
