History of Saint James:

The Saint James parish was the poorest parish in the country when the Spanish captured the Montego Bay they developed the region and stated to export lard from the port of Montego Bay. Saint James parish was named in honor of the King James II. In the year 1739, St. James became an important sugar producing parish in the country.
