Puyehue is a commune situated in Osorno Province of Los Lagos Region in Chile between 40°41′ S latitude and 72°36′ W longitude. Entre Lagos is the administrative centre of Puyehue situated on the Shore of Puyehue Lake in the proximity of Pilmaiquén River.

There is a mountain pass, Cardenal Antonio Samoré Pass that passes along the eastern tip of Puyehue linking Los Lagos Region of Chile with Argentina. Puyehue was founded on November 5, 1971.

 

Geography of Puyehue:

Puyehue is surrounded by Osorno in the west, Rupanco Lake towards south, Andes in the east and Puyehue Lake towards north. It is spread over an area of 1,597.9 sq. km. with a population of approximately 12000.

 

How to reach Puyehue?

Canal Bajo Carlos Hott Siebert Airport is the closest airport to Puyehue situated around 50 km away from the midpoint of commune’s main town, Entre Lagos with flights to Santiago de Chile, Valdivia, Concepción, Puerto Montt, Temuco, catered by LAN Express and Sky Airline.

There are regular buses plying between Canal Bajo Carlos Hott Siebert Airport and Entre Lagos and also tourists can use airport taxi or rental car to reach Puyehue.

Puyehue is connected with the western cities of Argentina through Cardenal Antonio Samoré Pass by heavy vehicles.
