Palena is a province in the Los Lagos Region of Chile covering an area of 15,301.9 sq. km. Futaleufú has been the capital of the Palena province since March 2009 by replacing Chaitén. Palena is the 7th least populated province of Chile with a population of 18,971 as of recent census.
