Sirajganj is a town located between 24°27′ north latitude and 89°45′E east longitude in Sirajganj District of Rajshahi Division in Bangladesh. It is situated about 151 kms northwest of national capital Dhaka and about 473 kms away from Chittagong city. Sirajganj is positioned at a height of 16 meters above the mean level of sea. The total area of Sirajganj District is 2,497.92 sq. km.

Sirajganj District includes 15 wards and 52 mohallas. Jamuna, Baral, Ichamati, Karatoya and Phuljuri are the major rivers flowing through Sirajganj District. Sirajganj is very famous for jute industries.

Sirajganj District houses numerous best educational institutions namely Ullapara Science College, Fuljore Degree College, Ghorachara High School and Chandaikona M.L High School.

 

History of Sirajganj:

Sirajganj was a small town of Pabna District during British rule in India when Bangladesh was the part of India. Before the earthquake in 1897, Sirajganj was home to most numbers of jute mills in Bengal Division.
