Arak is the capital city of Markazi Province in Iran, about 300 kms southwest of national capital Tehran. It is one of the educational and industrial hubs of Iran, houses numerous renowned industries and universities.

Arak is positioned between 34°05′30″ N latitude and 49°41′21″ E longitude and is placed about 1,718 feet above the sea mean level.

History of Arak:

Arak was earlier known as Sultanabad. It was earlier a village and formed and developed as a city by an Iranian Georgian Yusef Khan Gorji during the end of 18th century.

Arak is one of the industrial centres of Iran houses numerous metal and machinery industries. The major industries include Wagon Pars, Iranian Aluminum Company, HEPCO and Navard Aluminum.
