Phongsaly also written as Phongsali is the capital city of Phongsali Province in Laos, located about 422 kms from national capital Vientiane. Phongsali Province occupies an area of 16,270 sq. km.

Phongsaly is situated between 21°41′ N latitude and 102°06′ E longitude and shares its borders with Vietnam in the east, Luang Prabang Province on the south, Oudomxai Province in southwest and China towards north and west.

Phou Doychy is a top peak in Phongsali Province with an altitude of 1,842 meters. The higher majority of Phongsaly locals are involved in agricultural activities along with industrial works. Phongsaly is very much popular for its ‘Phongsali Tea’.

400-year old Tea Plantation:

400-year old Tea Plantation is the major identity of Phongsaly Province located in Ban Koma Village, about 18 kms from the centre of Phongsaly Town. The tea plantation has some of the oldest tea trees in the world.

The Wat Ou-Tai Temple:

The Wat Ou-Tai Temple is situated in Ban Ou- Tai village constructed by Praya Chakkawattiraja. It is believed that, this temple is more than 500 years old. The temple includes daggers, swords, flowers and flags and all these made by wood.

 

Wat Luang Ou-Neua Temple:

Wat Luang Ou-Neua Temple is a very ancient temple located in Ban Ou- Tai village of Phongsaly Province. This 500 year old temple was designed with Lue architecture style and it contains beautiful large Buddha image and small Buddha statues.

 

That Phou Xay Stupa:

That Phou Xay Stupa is positioned on the top of the hill, attracts tourists from all around the province.
