Druskininkai is a spa town located in the Alytus County in Dzukija region of Lithuania, about 140 km southwest of the national capital, Druskininkai. History of Druskininkai:

The name of Druskininkai may be derived from the Lithuanian term “druska” (salt). According to the archeological findings, Yotvingian tribes were the first settlers of Druskininkai, inhabited in the beginning of the Middle Ages. Druskininkai became popular as a spa town in the early 19th century, promoted by a professor at the University of Vilnius, Ignacy Fonberger as he found some chemical substance in the waters of Druskininkai.

The Vilnius International Airport is the closest major international airport to Druskininkai, located around 125 km away and handles flights from and to Riga, Moscow, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Istanbul.

Druskininkai has a good connectivity with the cities of Vilnius and Kaunas by regular bus services, served by Kautra, and Druskininkų AP, charging around 20-30 LTL and taking around 2.5 hours from both Vilnius and Kaunas. Buses operate from 5:30-19:00.
