Beroun is a town situated in the west part of Czech Republic in Central Bohemian Region. Beroun is situated in the meeting point of Berounka and Litavka Rivers and spans total area of 31.31 square kilometers (12.09 square miles) and lies at elevation of 235 meters (771 feet) above the sea level. Economy of the town depends on agriculture industries and there are few small business and retail sectors in the city and tourism is developing in the town.

Beroun is surrounded by Chynava, Vraz, Chrustenice, Lodenice, Hyskov, Kraluv Dvur, Tetin, Zdice, Karlstejn, Liten and Broumy and situated at the distance of 32 kilometers from Prague, capital of Czech Republic. Coordinates of Beroun are 49.9633° N, 14.0719° E.

 

History of Beroun:

Beroun was inhabited by the ford around 1088 and later the town was settled by numerous German merchants. During the rule of Emperor Charles IV, Beroun received the status of town and town prospered during the rule but the town was destroyed after the battle of Lipany. Beroun fell into the hands of House of Habsburg from 1526 and the entire town was seized and during the thirty years of war it was destroyed by Imperial army and the town did not prosper until the year 1860. Later limestone and iron ore mining industries were established in the town.
