Kielce is located in the south east part of Poland in City County in Swietokrzyskie region. Kielce is known for various sports and tourism attractions and the economy of the city is based on industries, sports and tourism. Kielce is situated on the banks of River Silnica and surrounded by mountains and highest elevation is 408 meters (1,339 feet) above the sea level and spans an area of 109.65 square kilometers (42.34 square miles).

Kielce is bounded by Brynica, Miedziana Gora, Zagnansk, Maslow, Gorno, Bilcza, Osiedle-Nowiny, Checiny, Polichno, Piekoszow and Korczyn and Warsaw, capital of Poland is placed at the distance of 180 kilometers from Kielce. Geographical coordinates of Kielce are 50.8725° N, 20.6319° E.

 

History of Kielce:

Kielce was settled around 5th century and during 6th and 7th centuries the region was inhabited by Celts on the banks of river Silnica. Bohemia established the colonies in Kielce but soon captured by Piast dynasty. Mountain region were unpopulated until the 11th century and the first enduring settlement was established out the hills and market was established for the trade and the region was surrounded by rich minerals and during the 15th century the town was one of the main hub for metallurgy. During the First World War, Kielce was the first town to gain independence from Russia and Kielce became the capital of Kielce Voivodeship.

Świętokrzyskie Mountains:

Świętokrzyskie Mountains is also called as Holy Cross Mountains located at the distance of around 25 kilometers from middle of the city and comprises of numerous lesser ranges and highest peak is Lysica lies at 612 meters (2008 feet) above the sea level and covers 1684 square kilometers (650 square miles) and surrounded by lush greenery and valleys.
