Eger is a city as well as the seat of Heves County in Northern Hungary, situated around 80 km southwest of the largest city of the county, Miskolc and 140 km northeast of the national capital, Budapest. According to another theory, Eger derives its name from the Latin word ‘ager’, meaning earth. The first Christian king of Hungary, St. Stephen was the founder of Eger, founded in the 10th century.
