The name of Budapest is a combination of two parts of the city, ‘Buda’ and ‘Pest’ which were earlier separate towns until 1873.  The history of Budapest dates back to the Celts settlement which was founded before 1 AD. Budapest was the central point of the many major moments of the Hungarian history including the Revolution of 1956.

Budapest hosts most important airport of Hungary, called Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is situated around 17 km southeast of the city centre.
