Antiguo Cuscatlan is a town in La Libertad department of El Salvador, is located towards the south western part of San Salvador at the distance of 9 kilometers the capital city of El Salvador and spans over an area of 19.41 square kilometers (7.49 square miles) at an altitude of 2,926.5 feet (849 meters) above the sea level. Antiguo Cuscatlan is the richest and a major urban town in San Salvador and has three industrial zones and grows various cash crops which are exported to various countries.

Antiguo Cuscatlan is surrounded by San Salvador, San Marcos, Santa Tecla, Mejicanos and Planes de Renderos and coordinates of Antiguo Cuscatlan are 13.67306°N 89.24056°W.

 

History of Antiguo Cuscatlan:

In the year 1054, Antiguo Cuscatlan was established by Topilizin Atzil, the last king of Tula and was inhabited by ten thousand people and in the year 1524, Spanish established the Antiguo Cuscatlan under the guidance of Pedro de Alvarado and was opposed by the local people. After the independence, Antiguo Cuscatlan town became the part of San Salvador.
