Loikaw is a city in Kayah State in Myanmar. Loikaw is the center of administration for Kayah State and falls under the Loikaw district and home for Myanmar’s largest hydropower plant. Lashio district is one of the largest places in Shan State and at the valley of Nam Yao River and Shan Hills, the highest mount is located few kms from the city. Lashio is at a distance of 550 km from the countries capital city, Naypyidaw. History of Lashio:

Before the rule of British the region was under the control of Shan emperor. In the year 1887, British colonial period was started in the town, as it was bounded by mountains and climate was pleasant throughout the year, later in the year 1903, Myanmar Railway line was established from Mandalay to Lashio. Various developments like military ports, civil offices, and military headquarters are established in the town. During Sino-Japanese War, Lashio was captured by Japanese in the year 1942 but later in the year 1945, it was liberated from Japanese.
