History of Gangaw:

During the British rule, a Geologist was appointed to find locations containing natural and mineral resources. After touring part of the country, the geologist submitted his finding to the then Governor stating that the areas in Magway Division such as Gangaw are rich with fossil deposits. Further on Archeologists began excavating various sites in the region most of them in and around Gangaw. Their findings proved that Myanmar was the place where the origin of Humanity was first born in this entire world.

History of Bassein:

The region Bassein was under the administration of the Mon Kingdom. In the year 1826, the British arrived on the shores of Bassein and developed an army base. Various national events and riots took place in Myanmar in the name of national freedom struggle against the oppression of the then British Raj. 4th January 1948, witnessed the end of the British rule in Myanmar and marked the beginning of a new era in the history of Independent Myanmar.
