Loikaw is a city in Kayah State in Myanmar. Loikaw is the center of administration for Kayah State and falls under the Loikaw district and home for Myanmar’s largest hydropower plant. The Pilu River flows through the Loikaw Township is situated at a distance of 240 km from the capital city Naypyidaw. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 19040’27” N and 97012’33” E and located at an altitude of 884 meters (2,900 feet) above the sea level.

 

Climate of Loikaw:

Loikaw has warm climate throughout the year but during summer season the normal temperature is 340C and in winter temperature drops to 110C.

Loikaw is located at Shan-Kayah border and tourists are not allowed to enter the region without permission. Loikaw is renowned for its mountain ranges and village with the different culture and people and prime interest is in its people and there are many hotels which offers packages for the tourists to visit the varying hill tribes.
