History of Mong Hsat:

As per historians, the Shan rulers were descendants of the Mongols who entered the region in the year 1287. Their reign ended in the year 1555. From the year 1555 till 1885, the region was under the reign of the Myanmar Empire. In the year 1887, the whole of Shan state was annexed by the British. Mong Hsat town too came under the British administration. In the year 1903, at the time of the British rule the Myanmar rail link was extended to Mong Hsat connecting the place to Mandalay. At the time of Second World War, Shan state fell into the hands of the invading Japanese forces. During this time the Japanese created an air base through which they conducted air raids in other parts of the country. After the end of the Second World War, the British regained control of the region and began development work. History of Momeik:

As per historians, during the year 1238 Momeik town was the part of the Hsenwi State. In the year 1465, in order to save the Kingdom of Momeik the ruler gave away a certain amount of ruby crystals to the invading Burmese King. In the year 1542 to 1546 wars were waged by neighboring kingdom rulers in order to gain supremacy over Momeik town. King Bayinnaung was victorious in many battles fought in order to gain supremacy over Momeik town. After the successful conquest of Momeik the King Bayinnaung ordered the creation of a Pagoda within Momeik. The King also donated a bell to Shwezigon Pagoda which had scriptures written in Mon, Pali and Burmese language.

In the year 1885, the ruler of Momeik passed away leaving behind a young heir to the throne. During this period the British conquered the entire Shan state and Momeik fell under their control. Many national struggles took place in the region against the British oppression. The year 1948 marked the beginning of Myanmar Independence and the end of the British rule in the entire country.

History of Mandalay:

As per legends, Buddha predicted the formation of the Mandalay city at the base of a hill that existed in the region. In the year 1857 on 13th February, the capital city of the kingdom was built under the reign of King Mindon. The former royal capital city of the kingdom was created in the year 1842 in Amarapura. Mandalay is 11 km away from Amarapura. The capital was shifted to Mandalay and official work commenced only in the year 1859 on May 23. The time in power of the King continued for over 26 years. This was the last royal capital city in the entire country. On 28th November 1885, the British made Mandalay their capital city.
