Donetsk is a Ukrainian city situated on the Kalmius River between 48°00′10″ N latitude and 37°48′19″ E longitude. History of Donetsk:

The history of Donetsk begins with the establishments of a steel plant and many coal mines by a businessman John Hughes in 1869. For his contribution to the development of this city, it was named Yuzovka which had a similar meaning to the name of John Hughes. The steel industries were upgraded during Soviet rule in Ukraine. Yuzovka was selected as the seat of the Donetsk region in 1932 and the name was changed from Yuzovka to Donetsk in 1961.
