Fuengirola is a town in Malaga Province in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Fuengirola is situated in the south part of Spain and lies at an elevation of 6 meters (20 feet) above the sea level and spread around 10.2 square kilometers (3.9 square miles). The economy of the town depends on tourism industry and surrounded by forest region and beaches visited by thousands of vacationers.

History of Fuengirola:

Fuengirola was established as Suel region during the rule of Romans in the town and Sohail Castle is one of the oldest castles in the town. In Middle Ages the name of the town was renamed as Suhayl and became the name of the castle and people of the region were engaged in farming. In the year 1485, Fuengirola was invaded and captured by Christian Monarchs and tourism industry started to develop from 18th century and later many hotels were constructed in Fuengirola.

Sohail Castle is situated at the distance of 5 kilometers from middle of the city and the castle was constructed by Abd-ar-Rahman III to defend the people and the region from enemies but was a ruin until the year 2000.
