Cobija is a Bolivian city located on the banks of the Rio Acre in Amazon Basin and capital of Pando Department. Cobija is situated towards north of La Paz and shares the border with Brazil and located at an average elevation of 280 meters (919 feet) above the sea level and spans an area of 155 square miles (401 square kilometers).

Cobija is renowned for rubber industries and agriculture is the main source of income, tourism and commerce industries are growing. Cobija shares the border with Brazil and located close to the border of Peru and located 1,764 kilometers from Sucre, capital of Bolivia. Coordinates of Cobija are 11.0333° S, 68.7333° W.

 

History of Cobija:

Colonel Enrique Cornejo established Cobija in the year 1906, originally named as Bahia. The India rubber industry was established in early 1900s, boomed during that era. But later the industry in the region was misshapen. At present rubber industries are booming in the region gradually.
