Kotor is a town in Kotor Municipality in Montenegro Country and placed in Gulf of Kotor. Kotor is one of the oldest towns bounded by fortifications and spans an area of 335 square kilometers (129 square miles) and the town is developing in the tourism industry gradually. Kotor is surrounded by Tivat, Prcanj, Donja Lastva, Mrceva, and Bijela towns and it is one of the charming towns in the country surrounded by mountains and sea and attracts thousands of tourists from all over Europe. History of Kotor:

Kotor was inhabited by the Ancient Romans around 168 BC and was popular as Ascrivium or Ascruvium village. Fortification was constructed during the Middle Ages during the rule of Justinian and prospered during the 10th century and until the 11th century Dalmatian language was spoken in the village. Kotor was destroyed during the rule of First Bulgarian Empire. After the fall of Serbian Empire, the region came under the power of Serbian Desporate and from 1420 to 1797; it was the part of Venetian Albania province. Kotor was the part of the Kingdom of Italy from 1941 to 1943 but after 1945 it became the part of Socialist Republic of Montenegro.
