Panipat is an ancient historical town situated in Panipat district in the Indian State of Haryana. It is well known for ‘Battle of Panipat’. Panipat is located about 160 km south of state capital Chandigarh and about 96 km north of national capital Delhi. The Postal Code of Panipat is 132103.

Panipat District is surrounded by Karnal district in the north, Sonipat district to the south, Jind district to the west and Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh towards east. Panipat lies between latitude 29.39°N in the north and longitude 76.97°E in the east. Panipat City covers an area of 64 sq. km. and is positioned about 219 meters from the mean level of sea.

Panipat is famous for its handloom industry and the town houses 8 thermal power stations. Panipat is considered as one of the leading centres of “Shoddy Yarn” in the globe. History of Panipat:

The 3 wars in Panipat are the major wars of Indian history. The first war happened between Ibrahim Lodhi, Sultan of Delhi, and the Timurid warlord Zaheeruddin Babur on 21 April 1526. Second was between Akbar and Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya on 5 November 1556 and third was fought between Afghan raider Ahmad Shah Abdali and the Marathas King Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa in the year 1761.

Panipat Museum:

Panipat Museum is one of the prime attractions of Panipat. It was constructed for the purpose of reveal information of the three historical wars in Panipat. The museum includes historical frescos, inscriptions antiquities, pottery, photographs, jewellery and sculptures. The museum was constructed by hard stones and designed with beautiful architecture. The museum is open from morning 10 AM to evening 5 PM. The entrance fee is 10 Rupees each.

 

Devi Temple:

Devi Temple is the famous worship place well known for its stunning architecture and historical sculptures. It is in near proximity with Shiva temple.

 

Bu Ali Shah Qalandar Tomb:

Bu Ali Shah Qalandar Tomb was constructed around seven hundred years back by Khizar Khan, the son of Allau-din Khilji. It is highly visited on Thursday by all the religion people like Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh.

 

Kabuli Bagh:

Kabuli Bagh is a beautiful park and the major attraction the park is Kabuli Shah Mosque. Kabuli Shah Mosque was constructed by The King Babur in the memorial of his wife Mussammat Kabuli Begum. It is located just 3 km away from Panipat town centre.
