Narsingdi is a district situated at the coordinates of 23.92° N 90.73° E in Central Bangladesh. It is located about 46 km away from Dhaka, the capital city of the Bangladesh. Narsingdi District has an area of 1,140.76 sq. km. The district is well known for its textile craft industry.

Narsingdi District shares its borders with Brahmanbaria District to the east and southeast, Narayanganj District in the south and southwest, Gazipur on the west and Narsingdi District to the north and northeast.

Narsingdi is loaded in industrial sector houses great quantity of textile mills, jute mills, and sugar mills. Also Narsingdi is home to biggest power plant of Bangladesh ‘Ghorashal Power Plant’. Narsingdi derives its name from earlier famous ruler King Narasinha. Narsingdi was formed as a district in the year 1984.
