Grindelwald is a village, popular for mountains among the sightseers and located in Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in Berne canton in Switzerland. Grindelwald has a total area of 171.08 square kilometers (66.05 square miles) and situated at an elevation of 1,034 meters (3,392 feet) above the sea level in the Bernese Alps. Grindelwald economy depends on agriculture and the village is admired for Jungfrau Mountain, it is the Swiss heritage site and Roman Catholic is the main religion in the village.

History of Grindelwald:

Grindelwald first came into the existence in the year 1146 but the village was inhabited since Neolithic age and Roman era’s coins were found in the village. King Conrad III approved the village to Interlaken Abbey in 1146 and later the abbey established the power in the region and occupied the village and forced the local nobles out of the valley. During the 12th century, first wooden church was constructed but renovated with stone in 1180. Tourism industry became popular during 18th century due to natural beauty and breathtaking views of surrounding valleys and landscapes.
