Dortmund is a German city belonging to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. History of Dortmund:

Dortmund was earlier called as Throtmanni according to the historical records. Once it was damaged by fire, later it was restored by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I as a town in 1152. Earlier Dortmund was a part of Westphalia and currently it belongs to the European Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.
