Cruz Bay is a major town on Saint John Island in the United States Virgin Islands. It is the commercial centre of Saint John Island housing many shops and restaurants, a post office, a bank and importantly, Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center. Cruz Bay Harbor is the major destination point of Saint John Island to nearby islands and is regularly served by ferries to and from Saint Thomas, Tortola, Virgin Gorda and other islands.

 

Geography of Cruz Bay:

Cruz Bay is situated on the west coast of Saint John at the coordinates of 18°20′ N 64°44′ W.

 

Connectivity to Cruz Bay:

Cruz Bay is connected only with nearby islands and other locations through seaway by ferries and car ferries. There is no airport in Cruz Bay or its neighboring islands.

There are ferries frequent between Cruz Bay and Saint Thomas and other British Virgin Islands such as Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke.

To move within the town or to reach neighboring Coral Bay, tourists can use taxi or rental cars that are generally available at local travel offices. Advance booking is preferred.

Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument:

Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument was constructed to save reefs from more degradation in January 1999 by a Presidential Proclamation. Tourists can only reach Hurricane Hole of the Monument by walk.
