Ciudad Guayana (in English, Guayana City) is a city belonging to the Bolívar State in Venezuela, placed about 685 km southeast of the national capital, Caracas. It is one of the largest cities of Venezuela with a population of more than a million and is also one of the commercial centres of the country with the important iron industry and port.

Ciudad Guayana is geographically located between 8°22′ N latitude and 62°39′ W longitude.

 

History of Ciudad Guayana:

Ciudad Guayana was officially founded in the year 1961 by merging two towns San Félix and Puerto Ordaz. Polideportivo Cachamay is a well built multipurpose stadium in Ciudad Guayana, established in 1990.

Polideportivo Cachamay:

Polideportivo Cachamay also called Centro Total de Entretenimiento Cachamay is a multiuse stadium located in Puerto Ordaz, around 13 km away from downtown Ciudad Guayana. It was initially opened in 1990 and was renovated in 2007. Polideportivo Cachamay has a capacity of seating 41,600 spectators.

 

Llovizna Falls:

Placed in the Llovizna Park in Puerto Ordaz, Llovizna falls is a spectacular waterfall drawing water from Caroní River and Macagua Dam is just nearby the waterfall. It is around 20 km from Ciudad Guayana and it can be reachable by taxi.

 

Macagua Dam:

Macagua Dam (Antonio José de Sucre) was constructed for purpose of hydroelectric power generation on the Caroní River in 1961. It measures a length of 3,537 meters and height of 69 meters.
