Sukhothai is a capital of Sukhothai province in Thailand divided into two parts, Old Sukhothai and New Sukhothai. Sukhothai covers an area of 6,596 Sq Kms and Old Sukhothai is 16 Kms away from the New Sukhothai city.

Sukhothai is bounded by Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Uttaradit, Phrae, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Phran Kratai and Is Satchanalai and it is situated at the distance of 430 Kms from Bangkok, capital city of Thailand and coordinates of Sukhothai are 17.0058° N, 99.8264° E.

 

History of Sukhothai:

Sukhothai was established in the year 1238 by Khmer Kingdom and Sukhothai means “Dawn of Happiness”, was the capital of Thai Empire for nearly 140 years.
