Saudarkrokur is positioned in the northern part of Iceland in Skagafjardarsýsla County in the region of Nordurland vestra. Saudarkrokur is the biggest town in northwest part of the Iceland and the town was named after the stream that flows through the land and in English the name will be called as “Sheep river hook”.

Saudarkrokur is renowned for its bird watching and fishing industry. Saudarkrokur is situated at the distance of 290 kilometers from Reykjavik, capital of Iceland and coordinates of Saudarkrokur are 65.7461° N, 19.6394° W.

 

History of Saudarkrokur:

Saudarkrokur was settled by Scandinavian Viking and divided the land according to their needs. During the Danish control in the Iceland the region was known for its markets and merchants and many houses were established on the west side of the fjord and many people visited the market from the surrounding areas.
