History of Samcheok:

Samcheok was ruled by Silla, Goguryeo, Sil-jick and Book-jin kingdom and suring the rule of Goryeo dynasty the Samcheok was named as Cheokjoo. Later between the years 1393 to 1895 this region was ruled by Joseon Dynasty and in the year 1917 Japanese captured the city and ruled till 1938. Samcheok came under the Republic of Korea in the year 1973.
