Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island country located in the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean, is surrounded by Saint Lucia in the north and Barbados towards west. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was earlier known as Youloumain, named by Caribs who were also the original inhabitants of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. French were the first colonizers of SVG, occupied in 1719, followed by the British in 1783 and after around 200 years of British rule, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines became independent on 27 October 1979.
