Qingdao is sited on the Asian continent in the eastern region of the country, China. The place is located in the Shandong province. Qingdao is hub for various industries and government of China named the district as Special Economic and Technology Development Zone and fast gowning districts in China.

The geographical coordinates puts Qingdao at 36.0833° N, 120.3333° E and spans over an area of 11,026 km2. Qingdao is surrounded by Yantai, Weifang, Rizhao, Weihai, Linyi and Lianyungang cities.


History of Qingdao:

According to archeologists, civilization existed 6,000 years ago and the place was then known as Tsingtao. During the period 770 to 256 B.C the place was ruled by the Eastern Zhou dynasty and was then known as Jimo. In 1891 on 14th June the place Qingdao was under the rule of Qing dynasty. The Qing dynasty began building a fort along the coast of Qingdao to counter invasion by foreign invaders. However the Germans seized the fort and brought the place under their control. The Germans took great interest in developing the region. On the onset of World War I, the British defeated the Germans and occupied the Fort. But the British rule over Qingdao was short lived. In the year 1922, China got back Qingdao. In the year 1938, Japan conquered Qingdao. After the end of Second World War, Qingdao served as the center of administration for the US Navy in the region, under the then newly formed Chinese government. The place now serves as the center of administration for the Chinese Navy.


Tourist Places in Qingdao:

Mt. Laoshan

This is the most famous attraction spot in the Qingdao and is the tallest mountain on the coast in the entire country. Reaching over a height of 1133 meters, this spot provides a breath taking of the surrounding region. This also happens to the place where the religion Taoism was founded.


Zhan Bridge

Also known as Nanhai Zhan Bridge or Qianhai Zhan Bridge provides tourist amazing picturesque scenery of its surroundings.


Badaguan Scenic Area

The place Badaguan is sited in the eastern region of Qingdao. It enthralls tourists with its fascinating display of red structures, lush greeneries along with the bright blue sky.


Catholic Church

This Church was created during the period 1932 to 1934 and was then known as St. Emil Church. This religious structure is one of the biggest of all Catholic Churches in the region.


Zhanshan Temple

This temple was created in the year 1945 and is most frequently visited by the followers of Buddhism religion. The temple is sited on the mountain of Zhanshan and faces the South China Sea.
