Matosinhos is a town and municipality in the region of Norte in Portugal, located around 8 km northwest of the Porto city and 320 km north of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Matosinhos belongs to the Porto District covering an area of 62.2 sq. km.

History of Matosinhos:

It is believed that, prior to the foundation of Portugal in the 12th century; Matosinhos existed with name Vila de Matesinum. The Fort of Leça de Palmeira is the historical landmark of Matosinhos dating back to the 17th century.

Matosinhos is served by Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport or Porto Airport, located around 10 km away from the centre of Matosinhos.
