Praslin is the 2nd largest island of the island country, Seychelles, after Mahe Island, from which Praslin is located around 44 km away. Administratively, Praslin is divided into two districts Baie Sainte Anne and Grand’ Anse. Anse Volbert, Grand’ Anse and Baie Ste Anne are the major settlements on Praslin Island. Praslin is widely noted for its pristine beaches, including Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette that bring visitors to another world by offering wonderful snorkeling and swimming experiences. Formerly called Isle de Palmes, Praslin gained its current name from the French diplomat César Gabriel de Choiseul, duc de Praslin. Praslin covers an area of 38 sq. km and its geographical coordinates are 4°19′ S 55°44′ E.

 

Connectivity to Praslin:

Praslin hosts an airport, served by Air Seychelles with regular flights to Seychelles International Airport on Mahé Island. Other than Mahe, the airport also offers charter flights to many other islands in Seychelles. International tourists are needed to board flights to Seychelles International Airport first and afterwards they can reach Praslin by flight or boat.

The local transportation of Praslin is catered by Seychelles Public Transport Corporation with regular buses from dawn to dusk.
